The 25-year-old established himself as a first-choice front rower for the Vodafone Warriors after starting the season with the Auckland Vulcans in the NSW Cup competition, finishing the year with 11 NRL appearances.
He was recently named the Vulcans Player of the Year and is also in contention for the Vodafone NRL Rookie of the Year title at the Vodafone Warriors NRL Awards which will be announced at the clubs annual awards dinner at SKYCITY tomorrow night (Monday).
No other Vulcans players made the team of the year but Matagis front row team-mate Charlie Gubb went close in the voting for the propping spots.
Siliva Havili rated an honourable mention among the contenders for the hookers position.
Claiming the halfbacks berth was Cronullas Chad Townsend, who links up with the Vodafone Warriors for the 2014 season and beyond.
