Vodafone Warriors supporters have combined to raise more than $25,000 for Red Cross New Zealand’s Disaster Relief Fund for Cyclone Gita victims.
The club promoted a special $15.00 ticket offer for its first home game of the season against Gold Coast last Saturday, with $5.00 from every ticket sold being donated to the relief cause.
“We thank our members and fans for combining to raise more than $25,000 for the relief fund. It’s a great effort on their part,” said Vodafone Warriors CEO Cameron George.
“As a club we have the strongest affinity with our friends in the Pacific and wanted to do all we could to help them in these tough times.
“Our fans really got in behind this with ticket sales being the best we’ve had in years for the first game of the season at Mount Smart Stadium.”
More than $24,200 was raised from sales of the $15.00 tickets while there was also a collection at the Vodafone Warriors’ NRL trial against Melbourne in Rotorua on February 17 which helped to lift the final donation to $25,486.
George presented the check to Red Cross New Zealand representatives Rosemine Mutamuliza and Malia Tua’i at Mount Smart Stadium on Saturday.
