Preseason training isn’t solely focused on the grind of training so this week a group of Vodafone Warriors players took a break from it to lend their help in the community.
Local players in the club’s wider Intrust Super Premiership squad as well as under-20 players thought they were set for another gruelling session in the sun last Saturday morning but instead they were taken to a mystery destination which turned out to be the Auckland City Mission.
There the players and staff spent two hours packing three pallet loads of food boxes for families less fortunate, each box containing an array of items for the pantry.
The products all came from organised donations including cartons of soup, baked beans and much more. The players also packed boxes of toiletry products.
Intrust Super Premiership head coach Nathan Cayless said initiatives like this are all part of ensuring the players appreciate what they have and what difference they can make by giving back to the community.
