Draw-22: All set for return to Mount Smart Stadium

Vodafone Warriors fans have today been handed a long-awaited and much-needed boost with the prospect of a return to Mount Smart Stadium for five home games in the 2022 NRL season.

In revealing the draw the NRL has marked down June 18 in round 15 for the first Mount Smart game day in 1023 days since the Vodafone Warriors last played there against the South Sydney Rabbitohs on August 30, 2019.

It’s not going to be a regulation game either but a Saturday night blockbuster against the best in the business this year when defending premiers the Penrith Panthers come to town.

Also heading to Auckland in the later part of the season will be the NRL’s benchmark club the Melbourne Storm in round 20 as well as the Wests Tigers (round 16), the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs (round 22) and the Gold Coast Titans (round 25).

St George Illawarra will be the Vodafone Warriors’ opening round opponent for the first time in the club’s history when they kick off their season with a home clash at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Saturday, March 12.

And for the second season running they’ll finish the regular season against the Titans.

The Vodafone Warriors are scheduled to play five of their home games at Redcliffe’s Moreton Daily Stadium – the club’s base for 2022 – with one each at Sunshine Coast Stadium and Suncorp Stadium (South Sydney in Magic Round) plus five at Mount Smart Stadium.
