Sunshine Coast Stadium has become the 12th home venue in the Vodafone Warriors’ history and the sixth new ground for a home match since the Covid pandemic struck in 2020.
While the Vodafone Warriors have played at the stadium twice before in 2019 and 2021, they were the away team then against South Sydney.
Saturday's encounter with St George Illawarra was the club’s 323rd home game including their three finals against Canberra (2002), Parramatta (2007) and the Sydney Roosters (2008).
Until 2020, the Vodafone Warriors had played only one official home game on Australian soil. That was at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium when they faced the Dragons in the inaugural Magic Round in 2019.
In the first Covid season in 2020, they added Cbus Super Stadium in Robina, Central Coast Stadium in Gosford and Scully Park in Tamworth while Moreton Daily Stadium in Redcliffe and BB Print Stadium in Mackay became home venues last year. Now Sunshine Coast Stadium has been added to the list.
