Warriors on international stage

A total of 12 One New Zealand Warriors have been selected across six squads for end of season internationals.

Due to appear first is halfback Ronald Volkman, who has been named on Toa Samoa’s interchange for the opening match of the new Pacific Championships against Australia in Townsville on Saturday night.

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad is the only Warriors player in the Kiwis’ squad to face the Samoans in the second match of the series at Eden Park on October 21.

No fewer than nine of the club's players have been named in the extended squads for the first curtain raiser between the New Zealand Kiwis A and Mate Ma’a Tonga A at Eden Park next week.

Rocco Berry, Kalani Going, Jacob Laban, Ali Leiataua, Paul Roache, Tanner Stowers-Smith and Taine Tuaupiki are in the Kiwis A line-up while 18-year-old back rower Leka Halasima and departing centre Viliami Vailea are in Tonga’s squad; Halasima played at both SG Ball Cup and New South Wales Cup level this season.

The 12th One New Zealand Warriors player on end-of-season international duty is front rower Addin Fonua-Blake, who was named in the Dally M Team of the Year and the RLPA’s Dream Team. He's in the Mate Ma'a Tonga team which will create history on a three-Test tour in England; the two teams will clash in St Helens (October 22), Huddersfield (October 28) and Leeds (November 4).

As well as the current players, more than 20 ex-One New Zealand Warriors have been selected in 10 of the teams preparing for internationals in the coming weeks.
