NSW Cup Rd 1 Team List: NRL trio named

Seasoned NRL players Jazz Tevaga, Te Maire Martin and Chanel Harris-Tavita will line up for the One New Zealand Warriors’ New South Wales Cup side against Newtown in Friday night’s early game at Go Media Stadium (5.15pm kick-off).

As well as providing ample first-grade experience, prop Tevaga (119 appearances) and halves Martin (77 games) and Harris-Tavita (54 games) have all played at international level and represented the Māori All Stars.

They’re joined by 27-game NRL winger Edward Kosi, who makes his return after being sidelined during the preseason with a scaphoid injury.

Three 2023 first-grade rookies and Kiwis A players Ali Leiataua, Paul Roache and Kalani Going are also in the line-up along with highly promising second rower Jacob Laban, the Warriors’ 18th man in their final NRL regular season match against the Dolphins last year and also a Kiwis A representative.

Tevaga, Martin, Leiataua and Laban have all been named on the extended bench for the One New Zealand Warriors’ NRL clash against Cronulla Sutherland on Friday night.

Under new head coach David Tangata-Toa, the Warriors head into the 2024 campaign following a successful 2023 season which saw them match the NRL side’s achievement by coming within a win of making the NSW Cup grand final.

Most of the players had exposure in the Warriors’ two NRL trials against the Wests Tigers and the Dolphins last month.

Friday night’s NRL-NSW Cup doubleheader will provide fans with the opportunity to analyse the depth of talent the Warriors have at their disposal for the two competitions this season.
