Maxigesic Recovery Report: CNK closes in on return

Injured first-choice fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad remains on track to make his comeback in the One New Zealand Warriors’ fourth-round NRL clash against the Newcastle Knights at Go Media Stadium on Sunday, March 31.

Head of performance Balin Cupples said Nicoll-Klokstad “continues his reactive running progressions” in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Cupples said he is building his integration into “some team skills and game-specific running capacities” with a view to returning in round four.

Nuikore suffered a minor foot fracture in the Preseason Challenge match against the Dolphins on February 24. Cupples said he is out of a protective boot and into his early return to run phase, building strength and load capacity. No return to play date has been set yet.

Meanwhile, hooker Wayde Egan and second rower Kurt Capewell, who both suffered knocks against the Sharks last Friday night, have been named for Saturday night’s round two match against Melbourne.

Promising second rowers Leka Halasima (moderate ankle sprain) and Demitric Sifakula (knee) continue their recovery programmes.
