In a strategic move aimed at expanding revenue streams and enhancing fan engagement, the One New Zealand Warriors have announced the acquisition of a hospitality venue in the vibrant Auckland suburb of Kingsland.
The exciting initiative marks the club's foray into the hospitality industry, with plans to create a welcoming space for sports enthusiasts of all kinds.
"This is a business venture to create diverse revenue as this is important," said One New Zealand Warriors CEO Cameron George.
"Options to use our platforms and brand to promote and engage in our own business ventures is a great way to not only generate new revenue but equally as important to engage with the public and fan base."
The newly acquired venue will not only cater to fans of the One New Zealand Warriors but also celebrate a wide array of sports, offering a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons.
George said the One New Zealand Warriors will hold a special place.
Located in the iconic sporting precinct of Kingsland, the venue's proximity to Eden Park sparked some speculation about potential games being played away from Go Media Stadium.
However, George clarified that the acquisition does not indicate a shift in venues for the club.
"No, not at all," he said.
"It’s a great location in an iconic sporting precinct. Historically, Kingsland has held its own in the hospitality sector and is very accessible, including a strong public transport system."
While the exact opening date is yet to be confirmed, the club aims to complete a quality refurbishment in time for the spring season.
Additionally, George revealed plans to involve fans in the naming process for the new establishment, further emphasizing the importance of community engagement.
As for its function during home and away game days, the sports bar will serve as a hub for Warriors fans, providing an exciting atmosphere to cheer on.
Special privileges for club members are also in the works, with details to be announced in the coming months.
George said partnering with Joe Jakicevich and the Jakicevich family provided a wealth of support and experience in the hospitality industry upon which the club could lean on.
