Three One New Zealand Warriors snared 10 of the available 12 Dally M points following their performances in Sunday’s outstanding 22-20 Magic Round win over the Penrith Panthers at Suncorp Stadium.
The two judges awarded fullback Taine Tuaupiki five points – one short of the maximum – while second rower Mitchell Barnett collected three points and halfback Te Maire Martin two points.
Penrith’s Jarome Luai and Isaah Yeo shared the remaining two points.
Playing his ninth career match and his first since the round three win over Canberra, the energetic Tuaupiki provided the two clutch moments of the day with his score-levelling try (laid on by Martin) and then his pressure-laden conversion to follow.
He finished with 10 points - kicking all three of his conversion attempts after taking over from Adam Pompey - while he carried the ball 23 times and made 198 metres including two line breaks and three tackle breaks.
The ever-consistent Barnett – on the field for all but four minutes – made 136 metres from 18 runs with 57 post contact metres, a line break assist and two off loads plus 37 tackles with just one miss and no errors.
Martin was arguably the most influential player on the field, underlined by his three try assists and four line break assists.
