One New Zealand Warriors back rower Kurt Capewell has been recalled to Queensland’s State of Origin side for game two of the 2024 series against New South Wales in Melbourne on June 26.
He’ll become the first One New Zealand Warriors player to appear in an Origin match in seven years dating back to Jacob Lillyman who played his 14th and final match for the Maroons in the opening match of the 2017 series.
The 30-year-old Charleville-born Capewell wasn’t used in last year’s series when he was with Broncos and the first-year Warrior missed game one of the 2024 Origin campaign on June 5 when he was sidelined with a calf injury.
The MCG showdown will be his 10th Origin match after appearing in every match of the 2020, 2021 and 2022 series.
