Maxigesic Recovery Report: Maiu'u returning

One New Zealand Warriors rookie Zyon Maiu’u has been cleared to return from an ankle injury this week but three senior NRL players have joined the injury list.

The 21-year-old Maiu’u, who hasn’t played since June 2, has been named to make his return in the club’s New South Wales Cup match against at Lidcombe Oval in Sydney on Saturday.

Fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad and wingers Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Marcelo Montoya were all forced off the field during the Warriors’ 12-13 golden point loss to Canterbury Bankstown in Sydney on Saturday.

Nicoll-Klokstad went off just before halftime with a calf injury. It has since been diagnosed as a moderate strain which is expected to keep him out until round 22.

Watene-Zelezniak was required to leave the field for a head injury assessment six minutes into the second half. He was unable to return but, with the Warriors having a bye this week, he is expected to be clear to face Canberra in the round 20 match on Friday, July 19.

Montoya picked up a groin injury but managed to stay on the field until the 63rd minute. He has been diagnosed with a minor strain and is expected to be available for the match against the Raiders.
