Harold Matthews draw confirmed for defending champions

Away games are again on the menu for the One New Zealand Warriors when they launch next season's title defence in the Harold Matthews Cup (under-17) competition.

The 2025 draw has served up consecutive trips to Sydney in the opening two rounds to take on the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles on February 1 and the Penrith Panthers on February 9.

With their bye falling in round three the Warriors won’t be at home until the fourth round when they host the Illawarra Steelers on February 23.

This year they had three away games and a bye in the opening four rounds before playing in New Zealand but they then enjoyed five straight home fixtures before the finals.

Of the other 2024 finals teams, the Warriors face only the Magpies in round six and the Sydney Roosters in round nine while avoiding the Bulldogs, the Eels and the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks.

They have back-to-back home games in round four and five against the Steelers and the Melbourne Storm followed by two more matches on the road and then the final two against the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Roosters at Navigation Homes Stadium in Pukekohe.

This year the Warriors just sneaked into the finals in sixth spot with a 5-3 win-loss record before eliminating the Eels 30-20, the Bulldogs 12-10 and the Magpies 34-16 in the grand final.
