Two challenging assignments await defending premiers the One New Zealand Warriors as they look to seal a spot in the Harold Matthews Cup (under-17) finals for the second straight season.

They went a long way to confirming their place in the top six playoffs with a hard-fought 22-12 win over the Balmain Tigers last Sunday.

That lifted the Warriors to 12 points and third spot on the ladder but there’s a logjam behind them.

Four teams are only two points adrift – the Roosters, Knights, Rabbitohs and Sea Eagles.

And the way the draw has worked out the One New Zealand Warriors face two of those teams in the last two rounds of the regular season, both of which will be played at their home ground Navigation Homes Stadium in Pukekohe.

First up it’s the sixth-placed South Sydney which will be desperate to stay inside the playoff spots before the Warriors host the fourth-placed Roosters.

The Rabbitohs had back-to-back losses in rounds five and six but bounced back with a victory over Penrith last weekend.
