After being named this week to make his return, centre Rocco Berry has been ruled out of the One New Zealand Warriors’ round four NRL match against the Wests Tigers at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in Sydney tomorrow (6.05pm kick-off local time; 8.05pm NZT).
The 23-year-old had fought his way back to earn a recall after missing the club’s last 13 matches following a season-ending shoulder injury in round 15 in June last year.
However, a minor hamstring injury has now forced him out of his comeback match meaning Adam Pompey moves back into the centres for his 98th career appearance with Edward Kosi brought in on the left wing for his 33rd first-grade game.
The vacancy on the bench created by Dylan Walker’s departure this week has been filled by veteran front rower Bunty Afoa.
The two players retained from the extended bench at the 24-hour deadline are halfback Te Maire Martin (18th man) and hooker Sam Healey (19th man).

The three players omitted from the initial 22-man squad are Walker, Berry and second rower Jacob Laban.
As well as Berry, the One New Zealand Warriors are also without winger Roger Tuivasa-Sheck who is sidelined for up to eight weeks after picking up a high-grade hamstring strain in last Friday night’s win over the Sydney Roosters.
The Warriors are coming off another performance in which they had a high completion rate (86 per cent from 38 of 44 sets completed) in a gruelling contest which saw the two sides make a total of 831 tackles with 84 sets in possession in all and just six penalties.
They will meet a buoyant Wests Tigers side which sits fourth on the ladder after back-to-back wins over Parramatta (32-6) and the Dolphins (30-18) following a tight 8-10 round one loss to Newcastle.
This match wraps up a block of four games before the Warriors’ first bye in round five.
As well as Pompey closing in on 100 games, loose forward Erin Clark lines up for game #99 leaving him set for his 100th milestone against the Storm in Melbourne in round six on April 13.
