Following a hugely successful Warriors in Business 2025 launch event in March, two more dates have been locked in next month.
This year’s programme opened with a luncheon at the Ellerslie Events Centre featuring former Google managing director of strategy Craig Fenton as the keynote speaker.
He focused on the ever-changing landscape of sport, how best to commercialise this landscape, the importance of letting people show up as their true self when they are the leader of an organisation and the significance of creativity in an AI world.
“It was great to be able to launch the Warriors in Business network for 2025 with a speaker of Craig’s calibre,” said One New Zealand Warriors commercial sales manager Thomas Harris.
“His insights on leadership and AI were well received by the audience, while some of his observations around the sporting landscape were fascinating as we consider the direction of the club and rugby league, how we continue to grow it both in the short and long term.

“We’re looking forward to bringing more insightful and inspiring conversations to our Warriors in Business members as part of the network this year. “
The second Warriors in Business luncheon will be hosted by the Royal Akarana Yacht Club on Thursday, May 15, with a focus on the One New Zealand Warriors’ return to the NRLW competition.
Under theme of ‘Raising the bar: What it takes to succeed in the NRLW’, the event will feature One New Zealand Warriors NRLW head coach Ron Griffiths, highly respected leadership and mental skills consultant Kylie Wilson and star Warriors signing Michaela Brake.

“This luncheon will give Warriors in Business members and guests an exciting chance to learn about what goes into building the campaign for the relaunch of the club’s involvement in the NRLW,” said Harris.
“It will come at a time when the squad is beginning to assemble for full training ahead of the NRLW season starting in early July.”
Warriors in Business will also host a free event – ‘The SMB game plan: Future forward for New Zealand business’ – on Thursday, May 29, which will be available to all Warriors in Business, Icehouse and MyHR members.
To be held at Icehouse’s head office in Parnell it will be themed: “Economic insights and strategies to turn green shoots into growth’.
Three panelists will be involved:
- Construction industry: Kyle Weir, GM Laser Plumbing and Electrical
- Hospitality industry: Steve Armitage, CEO Hospitality NZ
- Economist: Liam Dann, NZME Senior Economist
