Jett Cleary and Luke Hanson have been named to pair up in the halves in the One New Zealand Warriors’ New South Wales Cup side for the first time in Saturday’s round seven clash against St George Illawarra at Go Media Stadium (4.45pm kick-off).

Hanson has been alternated between the club’s NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup (under-21) sides so far this season while Cleary has, until now, been playing in the Flegg competition.

However, with Tanah Boyd and Te Maire Martin both selected in the NRL squad – Martin on the interchange and Boyd as 18th man – ex-Penrith juniors Cleary and Hanson have been pushed up for the competition-leading Warriors’ match against the third-placed Dragons.

The flow-on effect of injury and suspension has also seen a change on the wing with Edward Kosi going back into the NRL side. William Fakatoumafi takes his spot with Morgan Harper back from suspension slotting into the centres.

With Jacob Laban called up to NRL side’s interchange bench, Kayliss Fatialofa is named to start in the second row.

The Warriors are coming off their first loss of the season, a frustrating 20-28 defeat by the Newtown Jets in last Saturday’s top of the table contest.

Despite the setback the Warriors retained top spot but will be severely tested again this week by a Dragons side which is third on nine points.
